Electric Arguments by The Fireman Is Finally Out

The Fireman’s much anticipated third studio album Electric Arguments finally came out this week.

To launch the album, earlier this week, Paul visited The Fire Station pub in London to chat to the world’s media aboutElectric Arguments.

Talking about the new album, Paul told the media, “We had creative freedom to make this album any way we wanted. It could have been very carefully considered but that wouldn’t be The Fireman.” Talking about working with Youth he added, “I like working with someone. I like giving up control. It’s more fun than sitting in a room on your own all day.” On the decision to include vocals this time round, Paul commented, “The first two Fireman albums were instrumental. Youth suggested to me, ‘how about a bit of vocal?’ And I said, ‘well I haven’t got any songs, I’ve got no idea’. And because it’s The Fireman and anything goes, I said, ‘yeah sure’. So I just ad-libbed it and eventually a song came out of it.”

The Fireman Reviewed

Critics around the world have been raving about how great this new album is. Here are some examples of what the world's press have been saying:

Clash (UK)9 out of 10‘Macca has delivered a unique insight into his artistic wont, an enlightening and adventurous joy that could be the best thing he has done in years.’

The Times Knowledge (UK)4 *‘There are gems here. Happily, Electric Arguments is delivered with a disregard for production values or playlist potential that would make, say, Keane or the Kooks blush at their own conservatism. If he hadn't already been knighted, that would be enough to knight him all over again.’

The Sunday Times Culture (UK)4*‘The most exciting McCartney album since Band on the Run'

The Daily Telegraph Review (UK) ‘Embracing raw blues, delicate folk, gospel, country and dubby psychedelia, it's like a solo White Album and confirms the ex-Beatle's resurgence.'

La Repubblica (Italy) ‘Fantastic and beautiful songs. The album has a similar feeling to the creativity of The Beatles.’

Eclipsed (Germany) ‘With this masterpiece of multi-stylistic understatement McCartney successfully arises from a fountain of youth.’

Dagbladet (Norway) ‘...could be the album of the year!’

Australian Music Guide ‘Electric Arguments breathes with instrumental and vocal life… a genuine, progressive, artistic statement.’

The Wall Street Journal ‘A seriously good piece of modern rock....can stand proudly in the McCartney canon.  If 'Electric Arguemnts' is one of the better Paul McCartney rock albums of recent years, it is also another expression of his desire to expand the boundaries of his art.’

Los Angeles Times ‘...bottomless well of melody....excellent argument.’

Pitchfork ‘...harkens back to the homespun charm of 1971’s classic ’Ram’.’
